Bar lies on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, set between the Rumija mountains and the Mediterranean. The town is a regional hub with a ferry port and a railway line — the motorway to the north is under construction.

Port & ferry connection
A regular ferry runs from Bar to Bari, Italy. The crossing takes around nine hours — an important corridor for travellers and trade.
Motorway & rail
The Bar–Boljare motorway, currently under construction, will connect the town with the Balkan interior; the first section has been in operation since 2022. The historic Bar–Belgrade railway crosses spectacular mountain landscapes.
An established coastal town
With its ferry and rail links, Bar is the gateway to Montenegro for many travellers — and at the same time an established town with its own everyday life, not just a holiday resort.
